Bereavement Support

Upon the death of a parishioner, the family should contact the Parish Office before making any other arrangements – booking of funeral date/time etc.

In addition to the priests, there is also a bereavement support group (Ministry of Consolation) at St Mary's that caters to the pastoral needs of families who have lost a dear one. The group supports the members of the bereaved family with prayerful presence and encouragement; helping them to deal with their loss, to hope in God’s love and prayerful surrender of the deceased to God’s mercy and grace. The group also assists in organising and leading prayer services during wakes and funerals. 
 
If requested, the team will also be available to lead nightly prayers at the wake and at the crematorium or cemetery.
