“May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! ”

Thank you to all who came down to St Mary’s with your pets on a very sunny afternoon on 2 October. Here's a short snippet of some of our animal friends who received the blessing from our Friars that day! Let us give thanks to God for our furry, feathered (and slimy) creature-friends that bring us so much joy and companionship! In the spirit of St Francis, whose feast we celebrate on 4 October, St Mary’s will be holding our annual animal blessing - which had to be put on hold in the last two years - on Sunday, 2 October 2022 at 3pm. So, remember to save this date! Please assemble at the Piazza outside the main church.

Bring your dog, cat, bird, frog, lizard, rabbit, or other beloved and treasured animal-friends for a prayer and blessing session by our Franciscan Friars!

All are welcome!

Important points to note for pet owners on 2 Oct:

  • All owners are responsible for the safety, well-being and cleanliness of your pets.

  • All owners should also take care that your pets do not pose any danger to other pets and people at the event. If necessary, keep your pets in their carriers or enclosures.

  • Come prepared to clean up after your pets. Dog poop bags will not be provided.

  • Please keep your pets off the grass at the Garden of Peace.

  • Be mindful that there will be many stimulations at this event (noises, crowds, children, other animals), so please be prepared to manage your pet accordingly.

  • All dogs must be leashed.

  • Animals may not be allowed in certain parts of the church grounds or rooms. Please ask or follow the instructions of our staff and safety ambassadors if you are unsure.
