Ministry of Hospitality

Welcome to the Ministry of Hospitality!

The Ministry of Hospitality plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment at St Mary's. By embodying the values of friendliness and warmth, the ministry ensures that everyone who walks through the doors feels welcomed, valued, included and embraced. Through the efforts of the Hospitality Ministers and collaboration with parishioners, the Ministry of Hospitality contributes to the vibrancy and liveliness of the parish, fostering a sense of belonging and unity.

With the following 5 pillars (or sub-ministries) that outline the key areas of focus for the Ministry of Hospitality, the whole parish comes alive and the overall Welcome experience is enhanced, creating an environment where everyone can say, “I’m glad I came”:

1️⃣ Hospitality Ministers - Mass & Liturgical Celebration

This sub-ministry actively contributes to the worship experience by creating a welcoming atmosphere during Mass and other liturgical celebrations. This includes greeting parishioners, assisting with seating arrangements, providing information, and helping to maintain an atmosphere of reverence and prayerfulness.

2️⃣ Hospitality Ministers - Sacraments and Special Events

This sub-ministry extends its warm hospitality to special events and sacramental celebrations within the parish. Whether it's baptisms, weddings, funerals, or other important occasions (e.g. Ash Wednesday, Reconciliation, Easter Sunday, Good Friday, Mass for the Anointing of the Sick, etc), we want to ensure that participants and guests feel supported and comfortable during these significant moments.

3️⃣ Carpark Marshals

This sub-ministry oversees the carpark and operational aspects of the parish. This involves directing traffic, assisting with parking arrangements, and providing guidance to ensure smooth operations and convenience for all who visit our church.

4️⃣ Security & Emergency Response

This sub-ministry prioritises the safety and security of all individuals within the parish. They work closely with the PEPT team to develop and implement emergency response plans, ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to handle any potential crises or situations that may arise.

5️⃣ Church Tours

This sub-ministry offers church tours, allowing visitors to explore and learn more about the history, architecture, and significance of St Mary's. By providing informative and engaging tours, they contribute to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the faith and community.
