A Message from Our Parish Friars

Dear Friends,

The Jubilee Year begins with the opening of the Holy Doors at St Peter's Basilica in Rome by Pope Francis on Christmas Eve, 24 December 2024, and will continue until 6 January 2026.

We are invited to embrace this Holy Year as Pilgrims of Hope, embarking on a journey of restoration, renewal, reconciliation and rejoicing.

A Jubilee is a sacred time of profound grace, deeply rooted in our faith. Throughout salvation history, Jubilees have marked moments of renewal, a return to God, and a resetting of our lives in alignment with His divine will.

In a world often overshadowed by anxiety and uncertainty, this Jubilee calls us to rediscover the gift of hope—hope that anchors our hearts, renews our spirits, and reminds us of God’s unshakeable presence. It invites us to illuminate our lives and faith with the light of Christ.

While many may journey to St Peter’s Basilica or the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd (in Singapore), let us at St Mary’s begin our spiritual pilgrimage from within. Let us celebrate this Jubilee in ways that restore our connection with God and strengthen our bonds with one another. Together, we are invited to:

• Reflect deeply on our personal and communal faith journeys.
• Rediscover the transformative power of prayer, service, and worship.
• Celebrate the restoration of hope and share it as a beacon to others.

We invite you to join us in 2025 for many opportunities to celebrate this Jubilee, walking together as Pilgrims of Hope, trusting in God’s abundant grace to guide and sustain us.

The central message of Jubilee 2025, SPES NON CONFUNDIT (Hope Does Not Disappoint - Romans 5:5), is more relevant than ever in these turbulent times.

May this Jubilee be a time of genuine, personal encounter with the Lord Jesus—our Hope and Salvation—and may we carry His light to brighten our way.

With prayers and blessings,

Friars Mike, Julian, Aiden and Robin
